Where are you from? I’m originally from Montclair, New Jersey, but moved to Miami two years ago.
How/Where were you scouted?: A friend sent me an Instagram reel of an open recruitment in Miami. I waited in line for about 2 hours to get it signed. I was 16 years old at the time, and I came to New York and signed a contract. We’re doing our first season in New York right now and it’s really exciting.
How is the first season so far? I did Alaïa two nights ago and it was so much fun. They made me wear this 40-pound coat, and it was definitely a workout, because we had to do nine laps around the spiral. They made me wear plastic shoes that were deformed to the shape of my feet… There was another girl who wore the same shoes. When I got to the bottom floor for rehearsal, my legs were bleeding. I had to change my shoes (for the show) (laughs). It was fun! I love it. I love it all. It’s fun to go to castings, wear expensive clothes, see beautiful women and go to beautiful places.
What did you do before you started modeling? Before I started modeling, I was a typical teenage girl. I struggled in school, went to boba and thrift stores with friends, went to a few parties, got a lot of bruises from skateboarding, and dated a guy who was a waste of my time. The usual.
What do you like to do for fun? I’m still in high school right now, so I’m really busy with school, modeling, and shows. Other than that, I really love fashion. I have an obsession with lingerie. I would like to explain the outline design etc. afterwards. I love skateboarding. I grew up skateboarding so it was always in the back of my mind, but now that I don’t get bruises anymore, I really have to schedule when I can skate. I also grew up playing a lot of sports. Try anything you can imagine for a while until you get bored and move on to the next thing. I played hockey, swimming, soccer, everything. I’m very active.
What advice would you give to someone experiencing Fashion Week for the first time? The biggest problem is that if you don’t get a booking, it’s not necessarily because it’s personal, it’s because it doesn’t fit your brand. I’m 17 so emotionally I’m more high than usual so that was definitely important. I’m trans, so I also take a lot of estrogen, so everything is more intense for me. I quit high school to do this…now online. There are many factors that can make you feel stressed, but if you don’t book something it’s not your fault, it’s not personal to you, it’s not about how you look, and it’s not about the brand. It’s just really good reinforcement.
