Confusion in Imo APC as Harvest of Suspension Reign
…Nwafor led Exco suspends Nlemigbo
As Omegra committee recommends Okorocha’s expulsion
There seems to be no end to the crisis rocking the Imo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the two parallel executives led by, Hon. Daniel Nwafor and Prince Mercellinus Nlemigbo respectively, are fighting to finish over the issue of whose executive is the authentic.
Barley 28 days to the Presidential and National Assemblies election, the part was yet to come to terms on how to convince Imo electorate to vote for their candidates but have devoted more time and energy pursing what many have described as shadows while other political parties ride on their shattered home to gain grounds.
In a swift reaction, the All Progressives Congress under the leadership of Hon. Dan Nwafor, has upheld the suspension of the caretaker committee Chairman of the party in the state, Prince Mercellinus Nlemigbo through a letter dated 15th January, 2019, copied to the Governor of the state, Director DSS Imo state and REC INEC Imo state describing him as an imposter alongside his cohorts.
Addressing journalists at the state secretariat of the party at no 3 Works Layout, Owerri, Wednesday, Hon. Dan Nwafor, draw the attention of the public to what he described as illegal activities of Prince Mercellinus Nlemigbo who according to him, has been parading himself alongside others as the “Caretaker Committee Members of Imo State APC” with recall to a letter written to the Inspector General of Police about a matter at Federal High Court Judgement in Abuja which gave judgement of perpetual injunction against any sort of tampering with all the executive members of Imo APC under his leadership from ward to state.
Hon. Dan Nwafor who pointed out that continued disobedience to valid court judgment by Prince Nlemigbo could breach the peace in the state if not handled immediately informed the media that they have commenced processes aimed at charging the National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole for competent of court, hence, he disobeyed the court ruling and went ahead to constitute illegal caretaker committee.
The suspension of Prince Mercellinus Nlemigbo which received endorsement of his Ezinihitte Mberi ward, Mbaitoli Local Government through a letter signed by the ward chairman, Opara Henry copy made available to newsmen according to the state chairman followed due processes after he failed to appear before the committee which prompted the LGA chapter to uphold same hence, they approved.
In another development, a disciplinary committee set up by the Prince Mercellinus Nlemigbo led Imo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has recommended the expulsion of the Governor of the state, His Excellency Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha in line citing Article 21 (A) i-vi of APC constitution, 2014 as amended which is punishable under Article 22 D (i) (g).
The committee headed by a two time Federal House Representatives Member, Hon. Matthew Omegra while in a chat with our correspondent yesterday, stated that the committee, patiently and painstakingly listened to the overwhelming evidence brought to it by Prince Ikechukwu Unegbu and examined all the electronic and Media materials in evidence against His Excellency Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha anti-party activities hence, they recommend for his expulsion from the party.
He added that there were glaring evidence that the governor was openly and brazenly sponsoring, financing and campaigning for his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu who is the gubernatorial candidate of Action Alliance (AA).
