NYCN Condemns killing of Imo Youths During Rochas Okorochas Campaign
Calls For Violence Free ,Fair Elections

Comrade Agwuncha Izunna ,Organising Secretary National Youth Council of Nigeria,NYCN Southeast zone has expressed worry and concerned over what he  called unnecessary and avoidable lost of lives in Oguta council area  of Imo state , where two  youths were gruesomely murdered .
Agwuncha, who raised this concern on Sunday while addressing journalists in Owerri, Imo state capital  decried the recent senseless killings which according to him occurred during Governor Rochas Okorochas Senatorial campaign , blaming the state Government for its inability to halt the killings.
The youth leader who raised eyebrows over the ugly development while advising the youths to identify with meaningful ventures that would bring joy and progress to the state ,  said no election was worth the life of any youth enjoined youths to shun vote buying ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
“We are appealing to the entire youths in Imo state to be law-abiding and to be serious with their lives instead of engaging in vices that will destroy them. I wish to call on Youths to resist manipulation from our political elders. “
“Youths should see themselves as stakeholders and shun act that will lead to electoral violence. Look at two young men who were just killed, two promising young men, the gains and aspirations of those  young men had been cut short”, he said.
The Organising Secretary of NYCN, Southeast Zone, said the council would not allow anybody to destabilise the existing peace in the zone and the perpetrators of this gruesome killing should be brought to book.
We are worried because NYCN is of the view that this killing is avoidable if the government of the day rise up to the occasion of its primary responsibility to Imolites which is the protection of lives and property.
“The situation is also very bad and a sign of the failure of government because this is the government that campaigned and promised to tackle insecurity in the state.
“It is now quite unfortunate that after voting for the Imo state governor, what we are witnessing today with this government is worse than what happened in 2011 before Imolites voted out the previous government. ”
He then called on the government to act fast and deal with the situation before it is too late, “A situation where Ndi-Imo  are now feeling that they are not safe in their homes all in the name of political campaign is not good for us as a people and for the peaceful coexistence.
