Imo PDP Accuses Okorocha, Uzodinma of Colluding With INEC to Manipulate Electoral Process
As Party Uncovers Strange Creation of Voting points in Oru East,Ideato South Others
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday, accused the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC and Action Alliance, AA of colluding with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to rig and subvert the wish of the people in forthcoming general elections in Imo state.
In a press conference held at the party secretariat,Owerri,the capital of Imo State organized by the Secretary ,Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Campaign Council , Imo State ,Nze Ray Emeana , the party called for an urgent investigation into the alleged plots to thwart electoral transparency and plan to subvert the will of the people in 2019.
He disclosed that the PDP has uncovered an unusual and strange creation of voting points in Oru East,Ideato South and GRA,Owerri municipal. He further revealed that in Awo -Omama ward ll polling booths 001,002,003,004 and 8 extra voting points/units have been strangely emerged.
Nze Emeana maintained that same situation has emerged in Awo- Omamma ward lll booth 009,Amiri ward I booth 002,noting that the situation in Omuma ward is most alarming as its unprecedented. In polling unit 006 (3 extra units )booth 008( 4 extra units),booth 009(3 extra voting units),booth 009(3 extra units)booth 011(2exra units in booth 024.In Akata ward, booth 001 and 011 have been inflated to 2 voting points each,he averred.
According to him,” The people Democratic Party,PDP Imo State Chapter,is in receipt of confirmed reports on how the fear stricken All Progressive Congress, APC and its ally,Action Alliance AA in Imo state, have perfected heinous plans to pressurize the independent National Electorate during the February 16,2019 presidential and National Assembly Elections as well as the March 2,2019 Governorship and state House of Assembly Elections. “
“We are also mindful of the fact that INEC as the electoral and nonpartisan, but its deliberate docility in discharging some critical aspects of its conational responsibilities especially as they relate to the forthcoming general elections, has given us reasonable cause for concern .”
“To us ,INEC’s silence and nondisclosure of accredited voting centres so that all political parties and also make adequate logistic arrangements ahead of time ,is both criminal and indication that it might have truely been compromised.”
He pointed out that its open knowledge that PDP and her leading Governorship candidate ,Rt. Hon .Emeka Ihedioha has been traversing all the nook and cranny of Imo state ,marketing their manifesto and interacting with the electorate in line with constitutional and acceptable rules of engagement.
He said PDP totally rejects these plots to thwart electoral transparency in 2019 and we invite lovers of democracy and global democratic institutions to show more than a passing interest in our democratic process.
PDP invites Prof. Yakubu to bear in mind that all what Nigerians demand for is a transparent, free, fair and credible election that reflects only the will of the people, as directly expressed at the ballot. Any attempt by anybody, to subvert the will of the people will be highly resisted by Nigerians, in their determined resolve to elect a new President, come February 16, 2019
