Attending university and paying tuition fees. Winston-Salem-Forsyth County Schools students are exploring their future careers this week. The district is working with Greater Winston-Salem Inc. for this two-day event called World of Work. More than 5,000 students in grades 8 and 10 will visit the LJVM Coliseum over the next few days to explore a variety of career opportunities at the elementary school. We are just starting to develop an awareness of careers and in middle school we are letting them explore their interests. They do career assessments to determine what I’m interested in, so I can start preparing for that from high school and sophomore year onwards.

More than 5,000 students in grades 8 and 10 visit LJVM Coliseum to explore a variety of career opportunities. “In elementary school, we’re just starting to recognize careers, and in middle school, we’re letting them explore their interests and concerns,” said Kim Forbes, executive director of career and technical education at WS/FCS. “They’re doing a career assessment. They’re doing a career assessment to figure out what I’m interested in so that I can start preparing for high school and post-secondary.” Sessions begin in October It lasts until the 23rd.
