Few people understood industry trends better than April Hennig, chief merchandising and marketing officer at Moda Operandi. Fresh off a whirlwind tour of fashion weeks in New York, Milan, and Paris, Henning has already seen the styles and trends that are making waves. After she returned from Paris, I had a chance to pick her brain about the major trends she saw on the runways, emerging designers that caught her eye, and what we might find on pre-order in the future. there was.

Can you share your favorite memory from Fashion Month?
Coperni’s After Dark Disneyland takeover. I’m not going to lie. I wasn’t looking forward to driving an hour out of town past my bedtime on the final night of fashion month. As Disney characters and trays of champagne welcomed us, the fashion set dazzled and brought back childhood memories. The show featured an illuminated Sleeping Beauty Castle in the background, and a procession of villains and princesses appeared in a twisted fairy tale style. The emotional finale featured Kylie Jenner straight out of a fairy tale, ending with a magical fireworks display. The park then remained open for even more fun. …Yes, I rode the Space Mountain roller coaster!
Which show ended up being your personal favorite?
It was great to see Gabriela Hearst bring her eponymous collection to Paris and show it off in the gardens of Karl Lagerfeld’s former mansion on the Left Bank. This powerful collection showcases her masterful craft and feels very true to her vision. I was especially impressed by the dresses woven from metallic silk, the luxurious cashmere knits with caviar beads, and the rugged leather outerwear. Overall, it embodies strength and graceful femininity. Added bonus: a live set by The Lumineers.
