Spreading fake news can be counterproductive for political parties as people will not blindly believe everything without solid evidence and any attempt at fake news will soon come back to haunt them like a boomerang, which is what is happening now to Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress party.
Recently, reports surfaced alleging that a whopping bill of Rs 3.62 crore had been incurred by Jagan’s CMO staff due to their consumption of egg puffs between 2019 and 2024. The allegations have left YSRCP supporters highly perplexed as no prominent leader of the party has refuted the news till date, hence everyone believed that these sensational reports had some credibility.
Unable to withstand the attacks from the opposition, the YSRCP had no option but to divert attention by concocting fake stories against the TDP. In a bid to fight back, they doubled the amount spent on treats for Jagan’s office and spread the word that the government had spent a whopping Rs 8.5 crore between 2014 and 2019 on providing sweets to Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh.
The social media wing of the TDP swung into action and thoroughly quashed the fake news. They condemned the allegations and alleged that YSRCP supporters were spreading highly salacious and baseless allegations only to cover up the blunders and lootings of Jagan during his time in power.
Moreover, the allegations made by the YSRCP are far removed from reality and give the impression of being fabricated stories concocted as revenge for earlier news reports.
