Authorities say a woman found dead inside baggage claim at a Chicago airport is in an apparent suicide.
The 57-year-old woman was found “trapped” in a machine on a baggage conveyor belt at O’Hare International Airport on Thursday.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the medical examiner’s office determined the cause of death was asphyxiation due to hanging and ruled it a suicide.

The woman reportedly entered the restricted area just before 2:30 a.m. and was wearing flip-flops.
According to fire officials, she was found tangled in a conveyor belt used to transport packages.

According to the Associated Press, security camera footage only shows her walking into the scene, but does not show how she died.
“She was trying to get in at multiple points,” a source told the Chicago Sun-Times. “Her motives are unclear. She was trying to get into the secure area of ​​the airport.”
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and an investigation into the circumstances of her death has begun.
