I knew I needed to head somewhere familiar next. 1922 Franklin Street, Carolina Coffee Shop extension.
So to celebrate the slight hint of fall I was feeling that morning, I ordered a Pumpkin Spice Latte and a Chocolate Croissant, both of which were, as expected, excellent.
I will definitely be going to 1922. The coffee and pastries are a little pricier than I like, but the proximity to campus makes up for that.
The only downside to 1922 is that it’s almost always crowded and you’re bound to run into someone you know, so going incognito there is nearly impossible.
Three coffee shops later, I was high on caffeine and called my roommate. Sophia Nili They helped me. Together Grey Squirrel Coffee In Carrboro.
So I tried the Maple Latte and the Molasses Cookie. The latte was delicious, but the cookie was the best thing I bought. Molasses cookies were a staple in the house where I grew up, so I can say this is one of the best cookies I’ve ever eaten.
This was my first time at Grey Squirrel and I would love to come back soon. This cafe has a variety of indoor and outdoor seating and has great music playing in the background. I think this coffee shop is a great place to hang out and chat with friends.
As I neared the end of my coffee exploration, I had to visit my favorite cafe around here: Lanza’s in Carrboro. Ranza’s Cafe They serve the best lavender latte I’ve ever tasted.
When I arrived, I ordered my usual iced lavender latte with oat milk. “Moonage Daydream” by David Bowie As I ordered, there was music playing in the background and my roommate and I chatted with some classmates we had met inside. As always, it was a lovely atmosphere.
Compared to the lavender coffee I had at Joe Van Gogh, Lanza’s coffee was much more delicious: the espresso was stronger, the lavender was sweeter, and it was much more enjoyable to drink.
I’ve spent a lot of time at Lanza’s over the past year, its coffee watching me as I struggled with music theory or bristled at Homer’s Iliad. I’ve come to rely on the cafe to provide me comfort and a caffeine boost.
In the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area, Lanza’s is my favorite cafe, but I think all of these coffee shops offer something special, each with a unique menu and atmosphere, and there’s something for everyone to enjoy at every cafe I’ve visited.
