PARIS — Akris, which plans further retail expansion in the United States, appointed Jimmy Ye as chief executive officer of its Americas region, effective Wednesday.
Ye succeeds Peter Herink, who served in the role for 10 years. Ye will be based in New York City and will report to Melissa Beste, global CEO of the Swiss luxury women’s ready-to-wear brand.
Akris will be tasked with overseeing the planned rollout of new stores and concessions this year, including a flagship location on Chicago’s upscale Oak Street shopping district, as well as increasing the brand’s marketing efforts and digital impressions, he said in a statement first shared with WWD.
Ye joins Akris from Dolce & Gabbana, where he was vice president of North American retail, and previously held senior roles at Chanel and Louis Vuitton’s U.S. divisions.
“I am honored and excited to take on the role of Akris CEO for the Americas. Together, we will drive innovation and growth while celebrating the brand’s rich heritage. I look forward to this new chapter and the journey ahead,” Yeh said in a statement.
Founded in St. Gallen, Switzerland in 1922, Akris has been showing its collections at Paris Fashion Week since 2004. Under the creative direction of Albert Kriemler, the third-generation family-run fashion house is known for its superior fabrics, specializing in double-faced materials.
In addition to its US subsidiary, Akris has branches in Japan and Korea, as well as its own boutiques in major cities around the world, and its collections are also sold in over 300 carefully selected points of sale around the world.
