YSR Congress Party leader and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday urged party leaders to strengthen the party’s efforts by creating a systematic and structured framework from state level to village level. He chaired a state-level workshop held at the party’s central office in Tadepalli here on Thursday, which was attended by district presidents of the party, heads of their departments and other representatives from across the state.
The party said in a statement that Jagan Mohan Reddy has set up a committee to empower the party, with a special focus on women’s involvement in party activities, and the importance of including relevant organizations at the grassroots level. He directed party representatives to establish active committees at all levels, from districts to villages, and stressed that leaders must actively supervise these bodies.
He set a six-month deadline to form village-level committees in coordination with youth, women, students and booth-level units.
Jagan Mohan Reddy has raised serious concerns about the “shortcomings” of the current NDA government led by Chandrababu Naidu across various sectors. He highlighted key issues such as the unpaid Rs 2,400-billion Aarogyasri health scheme bill, which slows access to healthcare and calls into question the government’s commitment to the health of its people. He asserted that the education sector is suffering as important welfare programs such as Vidya Devena and Vasati Devena are yet to be fully implemented. He pointed out that the plans for English secondary education and the updating of the CBSE syllabus are stalled and no progress is being made.
In agriculture, farmers are suffering due to inefficient initiatives such as Rythu Bharosa and crop insurance, as well as failure to provide minimum support price and delays in providing financial assistance, he said.
He observed that health services in general are hampered by governance issues. He also criticized alcohol policy for encouraging corruption and mafia-like control over sales, which led to an increase in illegal activity.
