Angelina Jolie is most often seen in a simple yet effective uniform: a solid color dress or a classic top and pants, a nice coat, pointy pumps, a timeless bag, big sunglasses, and gold jewelry. We’ve come to know and love the consistency and understated elegance of her style, but the Atelier Jolie founder still manages to surprise us every now and again.
Last Sunday, Jolie was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport, where she added an unexpected summer twist to her travel wardrobe with a pair of espadrille platforms: Christian Louboutin’s CaraCara shoes in caramel brown suede and calf leather with a braided raffia sole.
Platform sandals gave Jolie’s look a casual, end-of-summer vibe, but the rest of the look was perfectly in keeping with her go-to outfit solutions. At the center of the ensemble, the Maria star wore a matching black coat underneath a flowing black dress, which she accessorized with black sunglasses and the ultimate luxury travel tote: a large Dior Toujours bag in black macrocannage calfskin with a gold Dior charm.

Jolie’s outing marks her first public appearance since her son Pax’s horrific e-bike accident. The 20-year-old was released from the ICU earlier this month after the accident near a busy section of Los Feliz Boulevard in Los Angeles. Jolie was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time and suffered head and lower back injuries. A source told People magazine that Pax has a “long road to recovery” ahead of him, but that his mother is supporting him throughout it all.
