I’ve mentioned this here before, but when I’m not sure what to wear (cough cough, it’s always summer) or I’m feeling creative, I head to Anthropologie to try things on. Yep, you can see why: the store itself is inspiring, not to mention the clothes, jewelry, shoes, etc.
Being an artist, I need inspiration on a regular basis, which is why I travel regularly. But even if I can’t go anywhere, at least a trip to an Anthropologie store lifts my spirits. I browsed the Anthropologie website last week and was blown away by the new fall products, so I had a feeling I’d find something to help me get out of my August slump… and I was right!
Anthropologie’s Fall New Arrivals: A Selfie in the Fitting Room
As I’m sure you’ve alluded to here, late summer can be a tough time to find outfit inspiration. This time of year is usually the most exciting time of the year, but it’s not yet fall and it’s still pretty hot everywhere. When it comes to fashion, I’m a layered person. Jackets are my favorite…boots, jeans, button-downs…these pieces best describe my style and are not for August.
But during this Anthropologie fitting, I think I came across some really fun transitional outfit combinations: pants with cool shapes and details, breezy tees that are summery but go with any pair of pants, a cute mini dress that looks great with an ivory swing jacket, leopard print, and of course the Gola x Anthropologie collab (so fun). Though I didn’t actually try on anything from the inspiration photos, I was super inspired by so many pieces I could wear ASAP. Let’s take a look.
Soft Paige jeans are the best
T-shirt (M) | Jeans (28) | Similar boots (or these)
I’ve been really picky lately about jeans that fit me well, and these Paige Anessa High Rise Wide Leg were a joy to wear. If I didn’t already have a pair of black jeans (and I have loads), I would have bought them in a heartbeat. I’m still thinking about these jeans.
They’re soft, stretchy and fit great. The patch pockets on the front are a modern touch and I love the wash. Ahh. Definitely, I’m telling myself. LOL. They run a little large. They didn’t have my usual size 29 but the 28 was perfect.
Pull-on barrel pants

Well, the shape of these Pilkro Relax Easy Pants is great. They seem to be sold out in black right now, but the other options are available in a pretty wide size range. I’m keeping my eye out for a restock in black, but I think they look great in all colors. A little barrel shape without being over the top is my favorite type of barrel pant because I know they’ll never go out of style.
Super cool olive green trouser jeans
Jacket (M) | T-shirt (M) | Pants (8) | Similar boots (or these)
Friends, pleats and I seem to be a bad pairing, but then I tried on these Maeve wide leg pants and voila. I love them. The pleats are fun and these pants are perfect for my cropped waist. The fabric is a soft brushed cotton and the overall feel is great. Awesome. Super happy with this find. Definitely going home. Size up if you’re between sizes, TTS if not.
A side note about the leopard print bomber jacket: I really wanted to like it, but I think I need to get a small or large. I didn’t really like it in person. But to be honest, the satin lining wasn’t my favorite. It’s peachy pink, but it has a cheap feel to it overall. I felt the rest of the jacket was great quality. I was confused. I’d love to find another similar option though!
T-shirt (M) | Pants (8) | Similar boots (or these) | Hat
I’m bringing back the red hat, but it looks surprisingly cool with a graphic tee and olive trousers. I love it. It looks more of a faded red online, but I hope that’s the case in person. I’ll try and find it.
This ivory swing jacket
Jacket (M) | Dress (M) | Similar Boots (or these)
Oh, what a cute jacket. Give it a go. Yes, I also brought home this Maeve Swing Jacket. It looks so great with this sweater dress. It’s rare that a mini dress looks good on me. The combination is fun and cute and feels like fall, but I wouldn’t mind wearing it now. I love the sweater dress with the jacket the most, but if you click through and take a look, it’s also cute on its own, with great shape and construction. If you’re between sizes, size up. It’s very well made and comes in other prints.

Oh, here’s what the dress looks like without the jacket. It would also look cute with some knee-high boots later on!

OBVS I love this miscellaneous graphic t-shirt
T-shirt (M) | Pants (M, hemmed) | Sneakers | Hat
Yep, I love this shirt. LOL. Honestly, who am I not wearing a graphic tee 80% of the time. This one is perfect for right now… crisp, nice fade, and the length is just right. I love it and can see it coming home.
Gola x Anthropologie Pullover Windbreaker
Windbreaker (M) | Jeans (28)
This is a little bonus item that I left at Anthropologie and still think about, it’s super fun, comfortable, well made, and a great Gola X Anthro collab.
Windbreaker (M) | Jeans (28)
Gola x Anthropologie sweatpants
Similar T-shirt (M) | Sweatshirt (M) | Sweatpants (M) | Similar Boots (or these)
I didn’t want to have to buy all these new clothes from Anthro so I decided not to bring this sweatshirt home, but I love it. The stitching details are cool and the shape is really cool. It’s comfortable and soft, and drapes just right, not too thick and not too thin. It’s the best TTS ever.
Sweatshirt (M) | Sweatpants (M) | Similar Boots (or these)
The floral sweatshirt is cute too, but if I wanted it to look more statement and less slouchy I would probably go up a size. But it’s super soft and goes great with the hoodie! I only had boots and I don’t like barefoot/outfit photos, but hmm, is it weird that I like pairing it with sweatpants right now? Lol. Especially in the first look?
Finally, metallic t-shirts
T-shirt (M) | Pants (8)
I think this t-shirt would be super cute to wear under a jacket in the fall for a little accent, or paired with my favorite sporty pieces. I would wear it under a leopard print jacket. It would also look great with pants or a skirt for the holidays. I love how it drapes and isn’t scratchy.
