Vanderbilt University was ranked 25th and making its first appearance since the 2013 season, while defending national champion University of Michigan lost its second straight game and fell to 4-3.
Undefeated Oregon State picked up its first road shutout win in 32 years after defeating Ohio State by one point at home. Defeat Purdue 35-0received 59 out of 61 first-place votes.
Georgia, which has won three straight games since losing to Alabama, has moved up three spots to second place on strength. A 30-15 win over previously No. 1 Texas. The Bulldogs received the remaining two first-place votes.
No. 3 Ohio State and No. 4 Penn State had no games on Saturday and maintained their rankings. Texas fell to fifth place as Georgia averaged 28 points less.

Tennessee’s 24-17 win over Alabama produced the biggest mover in the poll. The Volunteers moved up from 11th to 7th place. The Crimson Tide fell eight spots to 15th place, their lowest ranking since 2010.
Texas’ loss to Georgia was the first time a No. 1 team lost at home to a top-five opponent since 1991, when Miami beat Florida State 17-16.
Coming and going
Vanderbilt University’s previous ranking was 24th in the final poll for the 2013 season. The Commodores improved to 5-2 after defeating Ball State, and are off to their best start since 2008, when they went 5-0. This was the last time Vandy was ranked in the regular season.
Michigan scored its fewest points in a game since 2014. Lost 21-7 to Illinoishas been ranked 54 times in a row since 2021.
