Barbara Pierce Bush has welcomed her second child, a son named Edward Finn.
Her father, former President George W. Bush, welcomed his new grandson to the world, writing on Instagram that Edward Finn was “lovingly named in honor of his great-grandfather.”
In a social media post, Jenna Bush Hager, co-host of the Today show and Barbara’s fraternal twin sister, announced the birth of a baby boy.
“My sister has a little mister and I’m obsessed with Edward Finn! ❤️💗👼,” she captioned a slideshow of herself holding her baby at the hospital and spending time with her sister.
Edward Finn is Barbara and her husband Craig Coyne’s second child, and in the first photo Jenna shared, little Edward appears to be wearing a hat from NYU Langone Health, a New York City hospital.
Coyne and Barbara welcomed their first child, Cora Georgia Coyne, in September 2021. She was born at Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in Portland, Maine, which is named after Jenna and Barbara’s late grandmother, the former first lady.
“With all our hearts, @laurawbush and I are happy to announce the birth of our new granddaughter,” George W. Bush posted on Oct. 2, 2021. “Barbara gave birth to Cora Georgia Coyne on September 27, 2021 in Maine, not far from our family home where Barbara and Craig were married. Cora is healthy and beautiful and we are so proud and grateful.”
Soon after, Jenna posted her first tribute to her only niece.
“Today is the day I got to meet my most beautiful, precious, spunky niece (a little earlier than expected!),” she captioned a slideshow of photos. “Watched in awe as my sweetest, toughest @barbara.p.bush became a mommy and today is the day I fell in love! Your cousins can’t wait to play with you too, but it’s not time yet. Love you. xx auntie j.”
Later, on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna, Jenna revealed that she found out via text message that her twin daughters, Cora, had given birth and immediately began to burst into tears.
“I woke up to a text on Monday morning,” she said. “I started crying, I panicked, I woke up (my husband) Henry (Hager). He was like, ‘What?’ And I was like, ‘Labor has started!'”
Cora and Edward soon have three new friends: Mila (11), Poppy (9), and Hal (5), the children of their cousin Jenna and her husband Henry Hager.
