Barry Williams is getting real about past relationships and hookups shared between his ‘Brady Bunch’ co-stars.
“We all connected with each other at some point,” the 69-year-old actor told Us Weekly. “That wasn’t necessarily the case during filming.”
“I dated Maureen (McCormick), Chris (Knight) dated Eve (Plumb), Michael (Lookinland) and Susan (Olsen) had a little mock wedding at one point. So, yeah , we all got along,” he added.
Williams said her “relationships” were only between young stars, but she did admit that she had a “teenage crush” on the late TV mom Florence Henderson.
“I did have a crush on her when I was a teenager,” Williams said. “And she has a very lively personality and a great sense of humor, but I wanted to incorporate music into my acting career, so I talked to her a lot about that.”
“I found this singer coming to Copacabana near Beverly Hills,” he continued. “I can’t remember the exact place, but I asked her to go out with me as a date, and she said, ‘OK,’ so I was really happy. And now, for me, it was a date.”
“People were whispering about us because we were being recognized, which is weird, but we were the singer, his orchestration, the band he was in, and touring. We talked about what it was like,” Williams added. “And she gave me an idea of what that life would be like at the end of the date. And this is also in my book. So I went and she was kind enough to give it back, so that was a highlight.
“The Brady Bunch” ran for five seasons on ABC from 1969 to 1974, and its success spawned numerous spin-off titles.
In 2021, Williams opened up about finding fame at a young age.
“The last few years have been very intense for me,” Williams said on Australian morning talk show Today Extra. “My entire teenage years, from ages 14 to 20, were on ‘The Brady Bunch.’
“There’s been a lot of changes,” Williams said of the physical changes with his young co-stars. “I could hear the voices changing, I could see the hair changing, and I could see the growth in all of us accelerating.”
“So it’s been awkward at times and fun at times, but I always enjoy people watching the show,” he added.
