NEW DELHI: After the Bharatiya Janata Party distanced itself from Kangana Ranaut’s “restore the three farm laws” remarks, the Mandi MP responded to the party’s stand saying that her views on the repealed farm laws were “personal” and did not represent the party’s.
“Of course, my views on the farmer laws are personal and do not represent the party’s stand on those bills. Thank you,” Kangana wrote to X while expressing her stand.

Kangana’s response came in response to a statement by BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia, who said he was “not authorised to make such a statement on behalf of the BJP”.
“A statement by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on the farm bills which have been withdrawn by the Central government is going viral on social media platforms. I would like to clarify that this is her personal statement. Kangana Ranaut is not authorised to make such a statement on behalf of the BJP and this statement does not reflect the BJP’s view on the farm bills. We oppose this statement,” Gaubrav Bhatia said in a video posted by news agency ANI.
Ranaut has sparked controversy by saying that three farm laws that were repealed following protests from farmer groups should be reinstated.
“I think the losses suffered by farmers should be compensated. It may be debatable but the losses should be compensated and farmers themselves should demand compensation so that they are not disadvantaged,” Kangana Ranaut, MP from Mandi, told reporters here.
“Farmers are our pillar of strength in the country’s development. Hence, I want farmers themselves to make a case that these three laws, which were opposed by only a few states, should be reconsidered keeping in mind the interest of all farmers. With folded hands, I demand that these laws be reconsidered in the interest of all farmers,” she added.
Soon after Kangana’s remarks, the Opposition launched a scathing attack on the BJP, alleging that the great and ancient political party would never allow something like this to happen.
The Indian National Congress party, which shared Kangana’s video about X, said, “No matter how hard PM Modi and his MPs try, these black laws will not be revived.”

PTI’s party also condemned Kangana’s remarks and accused the BJP of deliberately using its legislators to make provocative statements and create communal tension.
“Discussing the revival of the black farm laws is an insult to millions of farmers and 750 martyred farmers in the country,” AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang said.
He also sought a reaction from Prime Minister Modi and urged him to take immediate action against Kangana if he is truly on the side of the farmers.
