Brad Pitt’s daughter Shiloh Jolie has legally renounced her father’s surname.
When she applied to give up the Pitt surname on her 18th birthday in May, Shiloh hired and paid for her own lawyer and applied to change her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.
TMZ reports that there was no formal hearing on the name change, and official court documents show the petition was granted on Monday.
Last month, Shiloh took out a newspaper ad to mark the name change. This is standard procedure before a court will approve a name change.

A source familiar with the matter told Dailymail.com last month: “Shiloh has hired her own lawyer and paid her own fees, so Angie doesn’t know about it and can’t talk about it.”

Pitt, 60, is reportedly “upset and aware” that his daughter, Shiloh, applied to remove his last name from hers on her 18th birthday. Pictured here in Paris in January 2023.
“But if you’re asking whether this has anything to do with the abuse history or violations of Shiloh’s victim rights, then yes, that is part of it.”
The revelation that Shiloh had paid herself suggests the ugly spat between the former couple, Pitt, 60, and Jolie, 48, may continue in the form of a lawsuit by the couple’s six children.
A lengthy custody battle ensued that ultimately ended in victory for Pitt, who was awarded 50-50 custody in 2021, only to have that decision overturned on appeal.
Pitt got a judge to step in and tell Angelina not to listen in on his and their children’s cell phone calls. The judge also ordered “reunification therapy” for Pitt and the children.
The actor opened a skate park for Shiloh at his home and, more recently, an art studio, reflecting the pair’s shared interest in the arts.
He has sent cars and security to transport the kids from her house to his whenever a custody meeting is scheduled. Sadly, none of it has brought them closer together.
In fact, his son Pax said in an Instagram post in 2016 that all four of his youngest siblings, including Shiloh, “tremble in fear in his presence,” even though his two oldest siblings had adamantly refused to meet him.
As things stand, his children Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, Knox and Vivienne, 16, form a tight-knit group of seven with his ex-wife.

Pitt has been in the midst of a long-running divorce battle that began in 2016 when Jolie accused Pitt of assaulting her on a plane.
The central issue appears to be the infamous private jet crash from 2016.
According to an FBI report on the incident released in 2022, Jolie accused Pitt of assaulting her on a flight to California in 2016. She claims that Pitt was intoxicated and grabbed her by the head, shook her and then pushed her down as part of an alleged confrontation over their children.
Jolie told the FBI that Pitt told the children they were “ruining this family” and also punched the ceiling of the plane four times.
At one point, she claims, he poured beer on her and a blanket that shared with multiple children.
A source close to Pitt later admitted that he had been drinking but insisted that he had never hit his children.
This comes amid recent claims that Pitt and Jolie’s divorce is still ongoing after eight years, with neither star “giving up.”
“Their relationship soured over disagreements,” a source told People magazine, adding, “Things got worse and it wasn’t a good situation for anyone.”
“The bitterness is one of the reasons the divorce has dragged on for so many years. Neither of them wants to forget it. One would have thought they would have gotten over it by now and reconciled.”

Angelina Jolie, pictured here in April 2024, has been accused of widening the rift between her daughter and ex-husband.
Another source said: “They’ve had their own issues with each other and their differences have built up over time. It’s really sad for the kids and for both parents. Divorce, especially one as high-profile as this one, is hard on the whole family.”
“They both care. They both care about their kids.”
Pitt and Jolie began dating publicly shortly after he announced his divorce from then-wife Jennifer Aniston in 2005.
The “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” co-stars remained single for many years, despite having several adopted and biological children, before getting engaged in 2012 and finally marrying in 2014.
However, it was just two years later that the Maleficent actress filed for divorce in 2016. She and Pitt were declared legally single in 2019.
Pitt is currently dating 35-year-old Ines de Ramon.
