If you need to be reminded again How Bad is Tesla’s Sales Slowdown? Please try looking for Random Field or parking This parking lot in Florida is where the Model 3 is stored.
The first thing I discovered was drive via RedditA vacant, overgrown lot in North Florida is being used to store the new Model 3 Highland. Local residents commented on a Reddit post that the lot is an overflow parking lot used by several Tesla stores. A store near the lot confirmed to The Drive that they store their cars there.
According to Redditor LSDBunnos, all of the Model 3s in the field are brand new, having only been manufactured in April of this year. While the grass field seems like an innocuous place to store cars, Drive points out that this is not the case.
Teslas don’t have exhaust pipes and most of their suspension parts are aluminum, so there aren’t many underbody parts that are prone to rust, but rust isn’t the only thing to worry about. The underside of the car, sitting in tall grass, is a hotbed of all kinds of animals, including rats, skunks, bugs, and, since it’s Florida, snakes. These animals will burrow into any crevice they find, build nests, chew on things they shouldn’t, and repeat the cycle for months. Also, this is Tampa, Florida, and we get a lot of heavy rain, which turns the dirt into mud, making the situation worse, and the longer you leave it, the more the car will sink.
It can also lead to bugs getting into places they shouldn’t be. One Tesla store confirmed to Drive that all cars are washed and serviced upon delivery, of course. But the store wouldn’t confirm which overflow lot the car came from. So if you live in this part of Florida and are buying a new Model 3, double-check when it’s delivered. You might end up receiving a car that’s been stored in a mini Everglades.
