The British Open is halfway through, with Shane Lowry in sole possession of the lead.
Lawry shot a 69 in the second round on Friday to drop to seven under par and take a two-stroke lead heading into Moving Day at Royal Troon in Scotland, where he had a slight advantage again in the second round after strong winds pounded the afternoon waves and caused early exits for several big names.
Daniel Brown, who led after the first round, shot a 1-over 72 on Friday. He starts Saturday at 5-under par, along with Justin Rose, who tied for the lowest score of the day with a 3-under 68 on Friday. They are the first British and Irish trio to lead halfway through the British Open since 1951.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will start the season at 2 under par, five strokes behind Lawrie. Scheffler has six PGA Tour wins this season and is fresh off a playoff victory at the Travelers Championship.

Shane Lowry had just landed his driver shot in a bunker on the par-three eighth hole, swung wide and hit a double, and Daniel Brown made a bogey, leaving the two tied for the lead at six under.
Xander Schauffele and Billy Horschel were suddenly just one stroke behind. As for Rory, well…
Since 2000, only three players have won the British Open with at least one double bogey during the week, the last being Mickelson in 2013. It was Lawrie’s second double bogey.
