Caitlin Clark has set another record.
The 22-year-old rookie recorded 19 assists in the Indiana Fever’s 101-93 loss to the Dallas Wings on Wednesday, a WNBA record for assists in a single game.
The previous record was held by New York Liberty’s Courtney VanderSloot, who recorded 18 assists while with the Chicago Sky in August 2020.
Clark also had 24 points and six rebounds in the win over the Wings, but the Fever ultimately lost the game, falling to 11-15 on the season.
“I’m just trying to set my teammates up for success,” Clark told reporters after the game. “At times we passed too much and maybe we could have taken a shot instead of passing and leading to a turnover.”
Her teammate, Aaliyah Boston, added that the record was “pretty amazing,” even though she knew Clark would say it “doesn’t mean anything.”
Clark, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft, has already broken several records in her short WNBA career, recording the first triple-double as a rookie earlier this month.

Clark also scored 24 points against the Dallas Wings.
Against the Wings, she scored or assisted on 66 of the Fever’s 66 points, the most in WNBA history according to ESPN, surpassing the mark set by Diana Taurasi in 2006. It was also her third game with at least 20 points and 10 assists.
Boston scored a career-high 28 points and Nalyssa Smith had 13 points and 12 rebounds, but the Fever couldn’t close out the game despite the score being tied at 93-93 late in the fourth quarter.
The Wings’ scoring leaders were Areike Ogunbowale and Odyssey Sims, who finished the game with an 8-0 run and improved to 6-19 on the season with 24 points each.
This was Clark’s final WNBA game before a month-long break for All-Star Weekend and the Paris Olympics. The Fever next play against the Phoenix Mercury on Aug. 16, while the Wings face the Connecticut Sun.
