Saturday Night Live star Bowen Yang channels pop singer Chapel Lawn in a skit in which he plays the internet’s favorite pygmy hippo, Mu Deng.
In recent weeks, the animal, which lives at Khao Kheow Public Zoo in Chonburi, Thailand, has become an online sensation thanks to its grumpy nature and often erratic behavior.
A popular video shows the two-month-old puppy, whose name means “bouncy pig,” annoys his caretakers and his mother by butting his head against them. It is well known that she hates baths.
However, the zoo has now been forced to put up warning signs in Thai, English and Chinese asking visitors not to splash water or throw objects to provoke the behavior seen online. Ta.
In the first episode of SNL’s monumental 50th season, cast member Yang appeared on co-star Colin Jost’s “Weekend Update” segment wearing an elaborate Moo Deng costume and telling the truth. Ta.
“For the past 10 weeks, I have been running non-stop,” began the exhausted pygmy hippo. “He’s been running around, eating lettuce, trying to chew water from the hose.”
“The response has been overwhelming,” he continued. “But we’ve reached a point where we need to set some boundaries.”
Last month, Roan made headlines for comments he made about apparently “entitled” and “creepy” fans who he claimed were stalking and harassing him.
A pop singer who became famous this year with hit songs such as “Good Luck Babe!” and “Hot to Go!” And the “Pink Pony Club” shared a number of TikToks in which she mentioned her newfound success and told fans that this did not justify the intrusive behavior towards her.

“Remember, women don’t owe you anything,” Yang/Mu Deng said on SNL. “When I’m in the pen, tripping over things and biting my trainer’s knees, I’m working. That’s the project. Just because I’m your parasocial best friend, or you Don’t shout my name or expect a picture just because you appreciate my talent.”
“What is your talent?” Jost asked.
“It bounces with its slippery body,” Yang/Mu Deng replied.

He cited famous hippos that have appeared in the past, including “Hungry Hungry Hippo” and Jada Pinkett Smith’s character in the animated film “Madagascar.”
“Well, I’m your favorite hippo’s favorite hippo,” he said, parodying Roan’s Google search results.
Mr. Jost pointed out that Mr. Mu Deng’s life was very similar to Mr. Loan’s and said, “Do you know (her)?”
“I’m ten weeks old, Colin, of course I know about Chapel Lawn,” Mu Deng replied. “By the way, leave her alone. Let her take as much time as she needs for her mental health…That’s what society does. It puts young women on a pedestal. Just beat it with a shell.”
Mu Deng subsequently announced that he would not support him in the presidential election, again in reference to Loan, whose campaign comments last week sparked backlash.
