Actor Chase Stokes binge-watched his hit Netflix show “Outer Banks” during the height of the 2020 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic as the masses quarantined at home. This brought him into the limelight.
Four years later, and just days before the release of the long-awaited fourth season, Stokes is now entering her “starring era,” according to stylist Abo Yermagyan, who started working with Stokes just before the pandemic began.
“He walked towards me with incredible charisma, the kind of movie star charisma you only see on screen, and we hit it off right away,” Yermajan said of his first meeting with the actor. Ta. “We had a great meeting and I fell in love with him. I can only compare it to star quality. I think it’s the first time I’ve experienced something like this firsthand.”
Yermagyan said Stokes, whose girlfriend is country singer Kelsea Ballerini, has undergone a style evolution over the past four years that resonates with fans and red carpet audiences. Stokes’ style started out bolder and streetwear-inspired, then scaled back to traditional menswear and classics in the vein of style icons like Paul Newman and Steve McQueen. He explained that the focus is on style.
But what’s consistent about Stokes’ style, according to the stylist, is the actor’s versatility, surfer vibe, and affinity for vintage items.
“There’s no rulebook. There’s no one to guide you on how to navigate the waves of stardom and style. But I think he did it effortlessly because that’s who he is,” Yamadjian said. spoke. “He’s a surfer in the way he approaches life, the way he approaches love, the way he approaches style. He’s riding the wave in a way. He goes with the flow, so… I think that resonates with his fans.”
Yarmajian said the evolution of Stokes’ style can be seen in his recent appearance at the Venice Film Festival, which he has attended three times so far. In early appearances, Stokes embraced trendier silhouettes like a black double-breasted velvet tuxedo and cropped pants, or an oversized tuxedo and matching pants. For past festivals, Stokes opted for a more classic silhouette, wearing a chocolate brown Giorgio Armani tuxedo.
“He’s been there a few times, but it’s not the first time he’s been on the merry-go-round,” Yamadjian said. “He’s gotten a little more used to his style and the comfort of his clothes, but he’s just entering his leading role era, so less is more right now. There are constraints. In a sea of guys doing very trendy, oversized Loewe and JW Anderson stuff, he’s forging his own path.”
Stokes continued this pared-back aesthetic at last month’s premiere of the Netflix film “Ugly”. Yermajan dressed the actor in a slim-cut, three-button Paul Smith suit.
As the actor heads out on the Outer Banks Season 4 press tour this week, director Elmagyan explained that fans can expect Stokes to continue this aesthetic with some upcycled and vintage elements.
“He embodies the saying, ‘He’ll give you a guy who can do both,'” the stylist said. “He can pull off a gorgeous Armani tuxedo beautifully and effortlessly in Venice or Cannes, but he’s also a guy who scribbles on his sneakers and looks as good as a movie star in a pair of hand-painted sneakers. ” 1940s vintage Levi’s and white T-shirt. ”
