Cheryl Hines has revealed that she is writing a book about the “rumors” her husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dealt with during his sexting scandal with political reporter Olivia Nuzzi.
“Rumors are so emotional!” the actress told Us Weekly while wearing her wedding ring at the Groundlings’ 50th anniversary event in Los Angeles on Saturday.
“But it’s all in my book. I’m writing a book. I was taking notes, serious notes!”
Amid the gossip surrounding their 10-year marriage, Hines said she was focused on “having fun with my family.”
“They’re fun. I mean, if you had a boring family, it would be tough,” she said. “And I think trying to embrace the unknown and instead of fighting it, embrace it and say yes to whatever happens.”
The “RV” star explained that she tries to “focus on the little moments and not take anything too seriously.”
“I’m in a very serious situation!” added Hines, 59.
Hines has daughter Katherine Rose, 20, with ex-husband Paul Young, while Kennedy has daughters Bobby, 40, Kathleen, 36, and Connor, 30, from previous relationships. , Kyla (29), Willian (26) and Aidan (23).
Elsewhere in the interview, the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star also revealed her secret to making her marriage last and getting through “crazy” moments with her husband.
“There has to be a connection,” she told Us Weekly.
“There’s that connection where you look at all the crazy things that are happening around you with your husband or partner and you look at them and you check in and you’re like, ‘OK. It’s going to be okay. We’re going to embrace this moment. We will get through it.”
she continued. “And a lot of times it’s funny and you can bend over and say, ‘This is crazy ball,’ spend a little time together, and then you can hold your head high and move on to the next thing.”
Hines also recalled that her romance with Kennedy began in 2011, explaining that the two learned how to deal with life’s curveballs.
“When I met Bobby, I said, ‘You don’t want to go into politics?’ And he said, ‘No, I feel like I could do more work as an environmental lawyer. , there’s no need for that. I am not beholden to corporations or corporations,” she explained.
“I thought, ‘Great!’ This is going to be great! And life takes left turns and right turns, no matter what the outcome is.”
Last year, Kennedy, 70, announced he would run for president in 2024, but in August he withdrew from the race and endorsed Republican candidate Donald Trump.
Hines admitted that while politics can bring up a variety of mixed emotions, she won’t let her husband’s career get in the way of their bond.
“People have a lot of feelings about politics, especially in Hollywood, but I don’t know,” she told the outlet. “So I feel like I’m OK for now.
“I have no problem having those conversations with people, and to me, it doesn’t define anyone. For some people, it does, but it’s like they can’t control it. There’s nothing I can do about it, so I have to flush it out.”
Hines and Kennedy married in 2014 after nearly three years of dating.
The “Waitress” star’s comments about her husband come after he made headlines for his alleged affair with Nuzzi, a 31-year-old political correspondent for New York Magazine.
Mr. Nuzzi admitted to having an affair with Mr. Kennedy after he allegedly told people about “intimate” photos that Mr. Kennedy texted him.
As a result of the scandal, Nuzzi was suspended from his job and split from his then-fiancée, Ryan Rizza.
Meanwhile, Mr. Hines continued to stand with Mr. Kennedy, even though he was photographed without his wedding ring shortly after the news broke.
