The NFL season kicked off on Thursday night with a thrilling game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens, in which Patrick Mahomes’ squad earned a narrow victory over Lamar Jackson’s Ravens squad.
Mahomes and the Chiefs are looking to win three straight Super Bowls, something no team in NFL history has managed to do. Whether he hoists the Lombardi Trophy for a third straight year or not, Mahomes’ career remains on a first-rate trajectory and he’s the only quarterback chasing legendary quarterback Tom Brady.
Brady, who finished his illustrious career with a three-year stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, won seven Super Bowls during his time in the NFL. Mahomes has already won three Super Bowls, but lost to Brady’s Buccaneers. Eventually, Mahomes will rival Brady as the greatest quarterback of all time.

While Mahomes is chasing Brady, there is still mutual respect between the two. The greatest quarterback of all time beat Mahomes in the playoffs when the two were AFC rivals and, as mentioned above, beat him in the Super Bowl.
Brady came out on top in the postseason against the New England Patriots, but according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, he gave Mahomes the most memorable advice of his career so far.
“I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing,” Mahomes said. “My first year, when I played against Tom and I lost, to have him say that to me — I’d never met him before — meant a lot to me.”
Whether it was during his incredible run in New England or wrapping up his career with the Buccaneers, Brady laid the foundation and set the standard for the next generation of great quarterbacks, and his mental toughness and ability to win games when it mattered most will never be forgotten.
As Kansas City builds a dynasty led by the Texas Tech graduate, Brady’s simple message to Mahomes still resonates with the Chiefs quarterback.
