Last week, Li Auto had 10,700 insurance registrations, Xpeng had 3,600, Zeekr had 4,600, Leapmotor had 6,300 and Aito had 7,700.
Major electric vehicle (EV) makers mainly saw insurance registrations fall in China last week, as vehicle deliveries typically slow at the start of the month.
During the week of September 2-8, NIO (NYSE: NIO) recorded insurance registrations for 4,500 vehicles in China, down 25% from 6,000 the previous week, according to data released today by Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI).
Li Auto stopped publishing its weekly insurance registration numbers for about a year earlier this year, but resumed releasing the figures in early May.
Insurance registration numbers differ from the delivery numbers released by auto companies, but the month-to-month figures are usually not that far off.
According to figures released on Sept. 1, NIO delivered 20,176 vehicles in August, exceeding the 20,000 mark for the fourth consecutive month. This was a 4.38% increase from the 19,329 units delivered in the same period last year, but a 1.57% decrease from the 20,498 units delivered in July.
NIO delivered 128,100 vehicles from January to August, up 35.77 percent from the same period last year, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
Lee Auto registered 10,700 insurance policies last week, down 5.31% from 11,300 the previous week.
The company delivered 48,122 vehicles in August, down 5.64% from 51,000 in July but up 37.83% from 34,914 a year ago.
So far this year, Li Auto has delivered 288,103 vehicles, an increase of 38.4 percent.
Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) saw 3,600 insurance registrations last week, up 2.86% from 3,500 the previous week.
EV makers delivered 14,036 vehicles in August, marking the sixth consecutive month of year-over-year growth, up 26% from July’s 11,145 vehicles and up 2.53% from the 13,690 vehicles delivered in the same month last year.
From January to August, Xpeng delivered 77,209 vehicles, up 16.75 percent from the same period last year.
Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) saw 16,200 insurance registrations in China last week, up 12.5% from 14,400 the previous week.
BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) insurance registrations in China fell 17.12% to 73,600 units last week from 88,800 units the previous week.
New energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturers sold a record 373,083 NEVs in August, beating the previous record of 342,383 sold in July, up 35.97% year-on-year and 8.97% from July.
BYD sold 2,328,449 NEVs from January to August, up 29.92% year-on-year.
