Updated heirlooms are undoubtedly the hottest jewelry trend right now. It’s the resurgence of vintage items and the style credo that comes with having something elusive from the past. Sort through trash can to find the perfect piece thanks to Reformation’s new jewelry capsule designed by Clare Waight Keller (whose name you may know from her tenure at Chloé and Givenchy) You don’t have to.
“This collection is completely inspired by 1920s Paris,” Waight Keller tells ELLE. “It’s meant to evoke a night on the town full of French charm.” The 10-piece assortment includes earrings, bracelets and necklaces in heirloom designs with a fresh, modern perspective. Masu. The campaign, starring Dree Hemingway, is a fitting choice as it is inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s memoir A Traveling Feast, set in 1920s Paris.
These pieces remind me of pieces I find on vintage jewelers’ Instagram feeds. For example, think of a dealer in Paris who regularly finds the most coveted and one-of-a-kind pieces. “Aesthetically, there is a sense of timelessness and diversity throughout,” continues Waight Keller. “A truly romantic, delicate, heirloom-worthy style, bold pieces with modern, strong lines are perfect for making a subtle statement, day or night.”
British designers are no strangers to elevating accessible style. Waight Keller, recently appointed creative director at Uniqlo, is the person you want to be responsible for designing the collections you shop. “It’s hard to find really well-designed products at affordable prices,” she confesses. “I especially love the molded and sculpted cuffs. They look beautiful worn alone for everyday wear or on each wrist for a bolder evening look.”
True to Reformation’s commitment to responsible production practices, the capsules are made from recycled 24-karat gold vermeil, 925 sterling silver, and semi-precious stones. “Deadstock jade represents the midnight sky,” says Waight Keller. “There’s a hint of sparkle that represents the stars and magic of Parisian nightlife.”
