The Standing Committee on Finance has approved the allocation of $29,925,500 in the 2024/2025 budget to the Central Administrative Services Authority of Tobago (CAST).
The approval was made at a meeting held at the House of Commons in Port of Spain on October 16.
Before the allocation was approved, Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) Ayanna Webster-Roy said CAST “acts as a liaison between the various departments of central government services to the island of Tobago”.
She added that CAST has core values of accountability, transparency, empathy, integrity, diversity and confidentiality.
“CAST’s business is driven by a vision to be an innovative services organization coupled with a highly qualified workforce that fosters sustainable development in Tobago.
“Last year, CAST implemented an enterprise content management system to facilitate the transfer of paper-based files to a modern, easy-to-use digital filing system,” Webster-Roy said.
A total of $700,000 was spent on this exercise.
It added: “As we move into the next financial year (year), we reflect on the notable achievements of the previous financial period.”
Webster-Roy said he was confident CAST could achieve similar results in 2025.
CAST is a division under OPM that plays a key role in Tobago and is responsible for “ensuring the availability of essential administrative, legal and meteorological services on the island and supporting all central government agencies in Tobago.” “There is.”
The Registration Directorate (Tobago) and the Directorate of Meteorological Services (Tobago) are among the organizations that come under the purview of CAST.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Committee approved a budgetary allocation of $2,580,755,600 to the Tobago Assembly (THA).
The committee will hold its final budget meeting on October 17th at 1:30 p.m.
At the end of this session, the House will vote on the budget.
The Senate will begin deliberating the budget on October 21st.
