ISLAMABAD (Duniya News) – In a dramatic turn of events, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was arrested along with party workers on Saturday for protesting despite the imposition of Article 144. He was “arrested” in Islamabad shortly after entering the capital.
The prime minister was arrested by an Islamabad police team at KP House on charges of “damaging public property and attacking the state”. He is also accused of misusing state resources for the party.
The KP prime minister had earlier decided to reach out to D-Chowk in the federal capital for PTI protests on Imran Khan’s call despite the ban on public gatherings and gatherings. Clashes also broke out between police and PTI workers in several parts of the federal capital.
However, official sources denied the arrest of the KP prime minister and declared that reports about his detention were “false”.
Earlier, Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi said no one would be allowed to disrupt the South African Summit to be held this month.
The interior minister told the media that he is in constant contact with the prime minister. He said that the army and FC have been deployed in the capital and maximum deployment of security personnel will be ensured.
Naqvi expressed regret that the protesters, in addition to using tear gas, also opened fire on police personnel. “We are all aware of the motives behind it,” he said.
Meanwhile, KP Information Adviser Lawyer Saif said security agencies had sealed KP House and detained Gandapur. He said the prime minister’s mobile phone had been switched off as he was “unreachable at this time”.
I have booked a PTI worker.
Following last night’s violence in Faizabad, a case was registered against 17 PTI personnel under anti-terrorism provisions at Sadiqabad police station. According to the FIR, four Rawalpindi police personnel were seriously injured due to stone pelting by PTI workers in Faizabad.
The newspaper said PTI personnel attacked police officers and police vans at the scene.
The FIR also said PTI activists armed with sticks and shouting anti-national slogans were heading towards Faizabad.
military deployment
In light of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting, military deployment in and around Islamabad has been completed and security measures have been strengthened.
The Ministry of Interior issued the deployment order based on Article 245 of the Constitution. Troops will remain deployed in Islamabad until October 17. The sources added that no miscreants will be allowed to destroy peace.
