Zack Top has fond memories of growing up on a farm in Sunnyside, Washington, and now that he’s pursuing a career in country music, he often feels like “life moves too quickly.”
Top, who is nominated for Best Newcomer at the 2024 CMAs, explained in an interview with Fox News Digital that his lifestyle has changed the most since leaving farm life.
“Life goes by too fast,” the “Cold Beer and Country Music” singer said. “It seemed like it was going pretty slowly, which I think it always does when you’re a kid. But yeah, it felt like a daily routine. And probably the biggest thing is waking up ”It was the same place when I was a kid.
“Now you don’t wake up in the same town,” he added. “I woke up and was somewhere else. The next morning I have to figure out where I am. Topp told FOX News Digital that growing up on a farm was more of a “hobby” for his family than a source of income.
“We didn’t run the farm to make money for our family,” he began. “It was kind of a hobby farm. We had a lot of goats and chickens, a few cows, a few horses, etc. My father was in the livestock industry, so he ran a big commercial ranch. I also ran a sales barn.”

Since leaving his family’s farm and focusing on country music, Topp “just doesn’t spend enough time getting his hands dirty.”
“I’m just sitting on the bus waiting for the music to come on, that’s what it’s like now,” he said. “I try to get outside as much as possible, but it’s harder to go golfing or go hiking. Being outside feels like a vacation more than it used to.”
