Death Stranding and Metal Gear director Hideo Kojima is about to take Hollywood by storm. The iconic video game creator, who recently signed with Hollywood talent agency WME, has revealed his plans for the upcoming video games Death Stranding 2 and Fiscinto, his collaboration with Jordan Peele, and his plans for Death Stranding 2. He talked about making it into a movie.
In an interview with Variety, Kojima spoke about his motivations for forging closer ties with Hollywood for the next stage of his illustrious career. “I made games at Konami for 30 years. Outside the company, I was offered many jobs such as shooting commercials, movies, and writing scripts, but since I worked for Konami and was an executive, I couldn’t choose which of them. “I couldn’t do that either,” he said. “Also, the games I made belonged to the company, not my IP. I became independent at the end of 2015. I love movies, so I could have moved on to shooting movies and commercials.”
Kojima talked about establishing Death Stranding as a strong IP by expanding the franchise. The video game creator also has two other projects in the works. One is the game development collaboration with Peele, OD “Death Stranding as a standalone title isn’t enough to popularize and establish the IP, so we’re currently working on a sequel. This is the first step. We will establish Death Stranding within the gaming category, expand to global platforms such as Apple, PC, and Sony, and create sequels from there,” he explained.
Kojima continued, “At the same time, we wanted to do something new that wasn’t Death Stranding, so we collaborated with Microsoft to create OD This is a game. But this is one of a kind. It’s a game. There are too many details to explain, but it’s a bit risky and a new challenge for me in the gaming field. I also have a project called Physint, which is a spy game, but it’s still in its early stages. It’s in the concept stage.”
The second phase of Kojima’s plan is to expand video games into other media formats such as movies, anime, and TV dramas. “I created Kojima Productions under the framework of ‘digital entertainment,’ but I don’t think it necessarily needs to be a video game (company).” Kojima also works on video game production and other media content creation. He also talked about synergies between methods. This means that it is now possible to operate in more areas than ever before.
Director Kojima delivers the latest information on “Death Stranding” movie
Kojima revealed that several Death Stranding adaptation projects are in various stages of development and that he has written the story for the film. “There are several Death Stranding adaptation projects in the works right now, as well as another story I’ve written for the movie,” he said. “But I don’t do it because I don’t have the time to oversee it. This is kind of a test for Phase 3. I’m in Phase 2 right now, expanding the IP I created in all directions. “I’m here.” ”
The Death Stranding creator continued, “But Ficinto, my other project, is kind of the gateway to phase three. I’ve been working with people in industries outside of filmmaking and games. We’re trying to make this project together. So we might do a film. But at the same time, we know that the assets are digital and can be used either way.”
Director Kojima is a fan of the movie “Nope,” and is currently collaborating with director Peele of the same film on the OD for a new video game. It appears that Peele may be on Kojima’s short list of potential directors to direct Death Stranding. “I have close relationships not only with Jordan, but also with directors like Guillermo del Toro, Nicolas Winding Refn, and George Miller, who starred in Death Stranding, and we always talked about doing something together. ”
