Tropical Storm Debby Timeline
A tropical air mass will cover our area through Friday. Southerly winds will create very high dew points, creating conditions for showers and downpours at any time. That said, it won’t rain forever, so again, it’s best not to cancel any outdoor plans in the next 24 hours.
On the track Debbie’s remains Located in the west, the heaviest rains and flooding are likely to occur in New YorkPennsylvania, and perhaps even just grazing parts of northern New England.

The National Weather Service said there’s an increased risk of heavy rain in those areas, with the chances getting much lower the further east you go.

Rainfall amounts in central and eastern Massachusetts will range from very light (southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod) to about 0.5 to 1.5 inches north and west of Boston. Not enough rainfall to be a serious flooding concern.

When will Debbie impact Massachusetts?
The heaviest rainfall in New England will begin just after midnight Friday night and taper off by Saturday morning.

Massachusetts weekend weather forecast
This final line of storms carries a slight risk of severe thunderstorms in addition to some heavy rainfall, with the Storm Prediction Center highlighting a 2% risk of tornadoes in areas of western Massachusetts and western Connecticut.
Tornadoes are not uncommon here when the remnants of a tropical storm pass through. Overall the risk in the area is low, but we will be watching closely through the early hours of Saturday morning.

One final bonus for the weekend: One of the best meteor showers of the year is coming up on Sunday night. The Perseids often produce dozens of shooting stars per hour, and with clear skies and no moonlight this year, you might see a really spectacular meteor shower.
