Former Sacramento Kings star big man DeMarcus Cousins has been searching for a way to maintain his basketball career since last playing in the NBA in 2022. Cousins was one of the NBA’s best big men in the 2010s, but unfortunately, a series of devastating injuries beginning in 2018 hindered his career and cut his prime short.
Still, the big man has had some solid success overseas, first with Puerto Rico and then Taiwan, and now Cousins is taking his talents to China, where 3×3 Basketball on X (formerly Twitter) announced he will sign with FIBA 3×3 World Tour team Wuxi WenLv.
Cousins’ contract runs through the end of the season.
As mentioned above, Cousins is making waves on the international basketball stage, having been named the T1 League Most Valuable Player for the 2023-24 season, according to Bleacher Report.
Meanwhile, 3-on-3 basketball overall has seen a recent surge in popularity after being featured in the recent Paris Olympics, where the Netherlands brought home the gold medal and the USA surprisingly failed to win any medals at all.
What would have happened to DeMarcus Cousins?
In his prime, DeMarcus Cousins was one of the three or four best centers in the NBA and played for the Kings, capable of dominating games on his own with skill sets that were ahead of his time for the center position, including perimeter shooting, passing and transition running.
Unfortunately, the Kings were never able to put the right supporting cast around their star player, and Cousins was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans during the 2018 All-Star break in hopes of forming a formidable duo with fellow star big man Anthony Davis.

Despite that promising start, Cousins unfortunately ruptured his Achilles tendon in New Orleans, ending his tenure before it even began.
After recovering from Achilles surgery, Cousins joined the Golden State Warriors prior to the 2018-19 NBA season and played a key role in the team’s run to the NBA Finals that year, only to lose in six games to the Toronto Raptors after star small forward Kevin Durant ruptured his Achilles tendon.
Either way, it’s good to see Cousins back doing what he loves on the international stage.
