Diversity Career Fair Connects Milwaukee Job Seekers and Employers
A diversity career fair, held Sept. 19 at the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center, connected job seekers with a variety of employers, including WISN 12.
We have a job fair happening right now at the Milwaukee County War Memorial. Wisn 12 is a proud media sponsor of 12 News. Sarah Sandlin joins us live. Sarah, the fair started about 30 minutes ago. Yes, Zoe, we just let everyone in and the room is full of about 20 employers. We’re talking to a lot of potential candidates for a lot of job opportunities. I want to introduce someone who’s helping make this happen. Neil Morrison from the City Career Fair. This is a national event and it’s happening in Milwaukee again, right? Yes, we’re honored to be hosting it. We have great candidates in this city and a lot of employees who really want them. So Diversity Hiring Day is a great opportunity for everybody and a win-win situation. There’s still time. Tell us about your goal for Diversity Hiring Day. The goal is full employment. Because one of the things we want to do is eliminate underutilized talent in our city and other cities. Employers here want to build teams and workforces that reflect everyone. So when you start a *** business or get a *** service, you’re in a relationship with people who are in a relationship with you. And we have a *** diverse employer here today. There are all kinds of opportunities. That’s right. We have everything from engineering to law enforcement. The IRS is looking for 66,000 people. So if you have accounting skills, come here. We have healthcare. Everything, everything is here. The fact is, most employers are looking for people with transferable skills that we all have. Neil, if there’s anyone watching this at home, you have to be here by 3:00 p.m., what do you need to bring? First of all, if you have a resume, get it out. If you don’t have a resume, that’s fine. Just be positive. Because employers want to meet you. They want to discuss how to build a future with you. So, Neil Morrison, thank you so much for joining us again. Wisn 12 is a proud sponsor of this event. We have plenty of time. If you are looking for a job and looking for new opportunities, there are many employers here. You are right, you don’t need to bring a resume. But if you do, that’s even better. So, please come here to the War Memorial by 3pm and we will send your resume to Zoe’s family at the Milwaukee County War Memorial. Thank you. The Diversity Career Fair at the Lakeside War Memorial runs until 3pm. We have posted the job listings at wisn.com/job Fair. Wisn 12 is once again a proud media sponsor.
