Donald Glover has canceled the remaining dates of his Childish Gambino New World Tour in North America, Europe and the UK due to a mysterious illness.
“After the show in New Orleans, I went to a hospital in Houston to have my apparent illness confirmed,” he explained on X Friday.
“After testing, it became clear that I would not be performing that night, and further testing revealed that I would not be able to perform the remainder of the US tour in the requested time. Surgery is not scheduled at this time. It needs time to heal.”
The “This Is America” hitmaker did not reveal why he needed the surgery, but told fans he was going to take the healing process “seriously.”
He concluded: “All I want is to bring this show to my fans and perform. Until then, I appreciate your love, privacy, and support.”
Tickets will be refunded at the place of purchase.
Page Six has reached out to the musician’s representatives for further comment.
Glover, 41, initially postponed his Sept. 8 concert in Houston “due to illness,” and then announced on Sept. 9 that he had to postpone his remaining North American dates to focus on “a few weeks of health care.” It was announced that there is.
He specifically thanked his fans for their “love,” “support,” and “privacy,” and admitted he plans to keep his health issues to himself.
The Grammy winner announced a major world tour in May after releasing his album Atavista, a remake of his 2020 project 3.15.20.
The New World Tour began in August and was scheduled to perform in the United States until October 3, before heading overseas.
The tour also served as a farewell to his stage name, Childish Gambino.
His last record, released under the name “Bando Stone & the New World,” debuted in July.
That same month, Glover told the New York Times that he felt his stage name was “unfulfilling.”
“And we felt like we didn’t need to build this way anymore,” he added.
