Ajimo La Umoja leaders led by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Monday met former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Nairobi following his arrest in Ruiru. Forbidden.
Mr Kalonzo was accompanied by Eugene Wamalwa of the Democratic Alliance Party of Kenya (DAP-K), Jubilee Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni and Makueni Senator Daniel Maanzo, when several police officers said, “I called the police,” he said, and was forced to leave the DCI precinct. ordered him and his agents not to enter headquarters. ”
All this while, the former governor has been cooling his heels inside the DCI office, where he was heavily criticized over comments he made at a music recital concert in Ruiru, Kiambu County, on Sunday night.

This was disclosed by his lawyer, Ndegwa Njiru, who had previously been granted access to the embattled former county chief.
Mr Wamalwa said the entire team that was denied access to the DCI office was part of Mr Waititu’s legal team and was to be led by the Wiper party boss, a senior lawyer, who would be assigned to the case. It had become.
Prior to the concert, Mr Waititu attended a church service in Mlolongo as one of the acting leaders accompanying former vice president Kalonzo, Mr Wamalwa, Mr Kioni and politician Jimmy Wanjigi.
Their plan was to join recently released activist Bob Njagi, who was abducted by suspected state security officials in August and released exactly one month later on September 19, 2024. .
They were scheduled to later address residents and issue a statement that included criticizing the state for recent extrajudicial killings and kidnappings witnessed in the country at various stopovers in Mlolongo and Kitengela towns.
However, the plan did not materialize as police prevented the rally from taking place and the leaders were forced to attend services at Kitengela Glorious Church.
Just before leaving DCI headquarters yesterday, the Wiper party leader said Mr Waititu’s arrest was unlawful as police did not follow proper procedures before picking him up at the Ruiru bypass area.
alternative voice
He also said he is not intimidated by the government’s silence and provides an alternative voice that resonates with Kenyans who are fed up with Kenya’s Kwanzaa regime’s management of the country.
“We do not understand why the police kidnapped Baba Yao (Waititu). We said yesterday in Kitengela that such abductions must stop and that any unprovoked arrest such as grabbing Waititu and taking him to DCI headquarters is an abduction. They could have gone to court and obtained orders to look for him,” he said.
The Wiper boss said President William Ruto visited Haiti and said people were being abducted in Kenya even though the Caribbean nation’s Kenyan police force was dealing with the abduction squads. He said it was ironic.
For Kalonzo, Waititu’s arrest is nothing more than a threat. This is because those who hold opinions that differ from the current administration are afraid to speak out for fear of retaliation, including arrest by DCI officials.
“We’re going to figure this out. The DCI itself is not above the law. The DCI director himself is not above the law. You cannot threaten us because we are in a state of turmoil,” he said.
DAP-K boss Wamalwa said he was told that Waititu had made remarks in Ruiru that led to his arrest by authorities.
He said the move was an example of states weaponizing the criminal justice system for their own selfish interests, effectively taking back the gains made by domestic democracy.
“We want to convey to the government that freedom of expression is part of our rights, as enshrined in the Constitution guaranteed to all Kenyans, including Baba Yao. Their rights and freedoms cannot be violated. We are here to stand by our brotherly customers to ensure their rights are respected,” he said.
For Mr. Kioni, some politicians use allegories and symbolism when speaking at political rallies, and he has never been targeted by security agencies, so the former governor should not be treated that way. I don’t think so.
The Jubilee Party leader said Mr Waititu’s arrest was a diversionary tactic to distract Kenyans from what the Azimio Brigades announced on Sunday afternoon regarding plans to impeach Vice President Ligasi Gachagua.
“Our rallying call is Kufa Makanga, Kufa Dereva (If the bus conductor dies, the driver also dies). If they deal with Gachagua, then President Ruto himself will be next and we will is not going to deviate from that position. When we said Ruto has to go, that means Ruto has to go, and it is the Kenyans themselves who said he has to go. ” he said.
