Ed Green’s 47-year career in the Denver news industry is coming to an end, the weatherman announced Friday.
During his final appearance on 9NEWS Morning on Friday, Green announced he was hanging up his weather clicker and leaving the Denver news world for good.
Greene has enjoyed a nearly half-century career in television and radio in Denver, including stints at 9NEWS, Denver 7, CBS Colorado and KOA Radio.
The 47-year Denver news veteran broke into broadcast radio journalism in 1972 with KIMN’s Mix 100, joined Denver 7 as weather and news anchor in 1976, then moved to CBS Colorado, Channel 4 in 1981.
When Greene left CBS Colorado in 2017, he became the first weather forecaster to retire. At the time, with 40 years of broadcasting experience in Denver, he was the longest-serving weather forecaster and on-air personality in the station’s history.
Green first appeared on 9NEWS during the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and officially rejoined the team as a weather forecaster in 2021, four years after retiring.
