She is not her father’s lover.
In an edited teaser for Monday’s episode of Bunny XO’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast, Elle King, 35, opened up about her complicated relationship with her father, Rob Schneider, since she was a child.
“It’s been four or five years since I’ve spoken to my dad,” the “America’s Sweetheart” singer, 35, said in a video shared Saturday.
“After the record was released, people finally started asking about my dad. He called me and said, ‘Don’t talk about me in the press.'”
Ms. King is the daughter of Schneider, 60, and former model London King, who divorced in 1989, the year after Ms. King was born.
In the teaser video, the “Ex’s & Oh’s” singer said she wasn’t able to connect with her famous father until she was “much older.”
“I was a really fat kid, and my dad sent me to obesity camp,” she continued, “and then one year I sprained my ankle and I didn’t lose weight, so that got me in trouble.”
The clip then cuts to King saying it’s “very harmful and very stupid.”
“I don’t agree with a lot of what he says,” she said of her father.
“You’re talking bullshit and you’re talking crap about drugs and, you know, anti-gay rights and you’re like, f**k you,” she continued, apparently referring to the former “Saturday Night Live” star.
King added: “He’s just talking without evidence. I would like to take this opportunity to say no. I don’t agree with what he’s saying.”
The Grammy nominee also said that Schneider “has never helped me. I have never wanted his help.”
“He didn’t have a very good reputation either,” she continued. “I don’t want to have anything to do with him. He’s just not a nice person. Sometimes I really wish someone would change. You can’t control other people’s actions. You can’t control other people’s emotions. All you can control is how you react and how you handle your emotions.”
“And sometimes I get so angry, so overwhelmed, I feel like I’m going crazy.”
King also claimed her father “forgot every single one of his birthdays.”
“I spent my 18th birthday at summer school and everyone bought me cupcakes, and when I got home my dad had forgotten it was my birthday,” she recalled.
The Post has reached out to Schneider’s representatives for comment.
King grew up largely estranged from her father and has previously spoken about their tumultuous relationship.
“Throughout my entire childhood, my dad was a workaholic,” King told People magazine in 2018.
But King said her two half-sisters, Miranda, 11, and Madeline, 7, born to Schneider and his wife Patricia Azarcoya Arce, helped her reconnect with their father after her divorce from ex-husband Andrew Ferguson in 2017.
“We’ve both grown a lot, and we’ve realized what’s important,” the singer told People magazine. “That he had kids. I wanted my sisters to grow up with good memories of me as a child. Family is really important.”
“So it was really easy for me to just show up and try to do good things for them and have no negative motives,” she continued. “When it comes to my kids, the crap just falls away. I love him.”
Schneider, meanwhile, has avoided speaking about his relationship with King for many years, but did share a tribute to her on Instagram on her daughter’s birthday last July.
“I am overwhelmed by your incredible spirit, determination and incredible talent,” Schneider wrote about King. “You are such an inspiration to me, your sisters and Patti! We love you and can’t wait to meet and hug you soon!”
