I am truly devastated by Liam’s passing.

His greatest joy was making others happy, and it was a privilege to be around him doing that.

Liam lived with an open heart and had a contagious energy for life. He was warm, supportive and incredibly loving. The years we spent together will forever remain as one of the most important years of my life. My wonderful friend, I will always miss him.

My heart breaks for Karen, Geoff, Nicola, Ruth, his son Bear and everyone around the world who knew and loved him as much as I did.

It is with great sadness that I write this that yesterday I lost my brother. Liam was someone I looked up to every day, he was such a positive, funny and kind person.

I first met Liam when he was 16 and I was 18. I was immediately surprised by his voice, but as time passed, more importantly, I had the opportunity to meet the kind brother I had admired all my life.

Liam was a great songwriter with a great sense of melody, so we often talked about going back into the studio together and trying to recreate the songwriting chemistry that we had built within the band.

And just for the record, in my opinion, Liam was the most important part of One Direction. His experience from a young age, perfect pitch, stage presence, and talent for writing. The list goes on. Liam, thank you for shaping us.
