Gabrielle Union did the coolest thing. Yes, she brought her daughter, Kaavia, to a red carpet movie premiere (so cool!), but that’s not the cool thing I’m talking about. I’m talking about the fact that Union ignored all the red carpet rules and walked to her own rhythm in sneakers. Yes, sneakers. And not just any sneakers. She happened to be wearing my favorite sneakers, which my whole family, husband, and friend group are totally obsessed with.
At the red carpet premiere of Disney’s latest film, Descendants: The Rise of Red, Union appeared semi-twinned with her 5-year-old daughter in a mini dress and white shoes. Kaavia wore crisp white (mesh?) ballet flats that looked super breathable (just what we need this summer!) while Union opted for white Kariuma sneakers. Naturally, she picked up the brand’s famous and always sold-out Oka Lo sneakers, which are, in my opinion, the most perfect summer sneaker ever.

In the heat and humidity of summer, canvas sneakers are a no-brainer.
