One of Garcelle Beauvais’ twin sons, Jade, made his runway debut at the Sutton Stracke Green Label fashion show in LA on Monday night.
“My son Jade is one of the models in the show. It’s his first time on the runway!” Beauvais told Page Six in an exclusive interview before the show.
“I’m super excited,” she added. “He’s just starting out as a model.”
When asked if she was “nervous” about her kids, the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star, 57, squealed, “Yeah! Are you kidding me? I had him practice today. He’s like, ‘Mommy, I’m not looking at you. Mommy, you need to stay calm,'”
Beauvais, who is also mother to 33-year-old son Oliver, was clearly struggling to keep her cool as she sat front row with her co-stars and watched 16-year-old Jade rock two outfits from Stracke’s new sustainable travel clothing line.
The actress was all smiles as she filmed on her mobile phone, but the teen, already a confirmed professional, remained focused on the task at hand.
When asked what her son Jax thought about his twins’ aspiring models, Beauvais laughed and said, “He’s like, ‘I’m gonna make fun of him.’ … I was like, ‘Do you want to come[tonight]?’ And he was like, ‘No way.’ But that’s brothers! They’re 16.”
When we caught up with the woman of the moment, she explained that the inspiration to create an eco-friendly clothing collection came about a few years ago.
“I met a guy from Houston and he became my business partner. He owns a recycling business,” Stracke, 52, said.
“And he said, ‘Look, you need to get into the business of sustainability in fashion.’ And so I learned about the problems fashion is causing for the planet.”
When we mentioned her brand name as her baby, the mother of three joked, “My big baby! This is like a pair of twins that are like 80 pounds each.”
Jade wasn’t the only RHOBH kid to attend the fashion show; Stracke’s daughter Porter was also in attendance.
Porter, 22, watched from the stands as her mother choked up as she addressed the crowd on the rooftop of the Godfrey Hotel in Hollywood.
“I have no idea what I’m doing. I’ve never done a fashion show. This was not part of the plan when I opened the (West Hollywood) store five years ago,” Stracke admitted.
“For me it was a learning journey about sustainability and how fashion pollutes the environment, and these pieces would have ended up in a landfill if they weren’t recirculated as fashion,” she continued, gesturing to the models.
Bravolebrity also said she is “proud” to be “part of the solution, not the problem, in fashion.”
“My 22-year-old daughter, Porter, was in the audience and it was so much fun learning about sustainability and how to do smart fashion rather than fast fashion with her,” Stracke said, fighting back tears.
“And I hope she’s proud of me. It’s really exciting to share this with you all.”
