Jade Thomas Nilon, the son of actress and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Garcelle Beauvais, is growing up and forging his own identity. The teenager landed his first official modeling job, and his mom was there to cheer him on. Nilon hit the runway at his Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-star Sutton Stracke’s Green Label Fashion Show on Monday, July 22, in Los Angeles.
“I’m super excited,” Beauvais told Page Six before the show began. “He’s just starting out as a model.”
She continued, “I had him practice today. He was like, ‘Mom, I’m not looking at you. Mom, you need to stay calm.’
Nilon wore two outfits from Stracke’s sustainable line: an oversized beige blazer with a black shirt and pants, and a matching puffer vest with a black ensemble.
Beauvais watched from the front row with his RHOBH co-stars, capturing his son coming into his own: Beauvais began his career as a model, appearing in numerous print publications for Avon, Mary Kay, and Clairol, as well as walking shows for Calvin Klein and Isaac Mizrahi (he also appeared on the cover of ESSENCE during his modeling days).
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star has two other children: son Jax Joseph Nilon, Jade’s twin brother, with ex-husband Michael Nilon, and 32-year-old son Oliver Sanders with ex-husband Daniel Sanders.
During the interview, Beauvais was asked about Jax’s reaction to Jade’s new modeling career, to which the actress laughed: “His brother was like, ‘I’m gonna make fun of him.’ … I was like, ‘Would you like to come?’ And he was like, ‘No way.’ But they’re brothers! They’re only 16.”
The star has enjoyed watching her kids pursue their passions and have kids of their own: In June, Oliver announced that he and girlfriend Shanti Paranada were expecting their first child, a girl; he’s already father to son Oliver Jr. And now, she literally has a front row seat to her son’s blossoming modeling career.
