Gayle King and Oprah Winfrey’s friendship is international. The two attended the after-party for the play Coriolanus in London on September 24. David Oyelowo was starring in the Shakespeare production at the National Theatre, and King and Winfrey supported the actor in his glamorous costume. King looked sharp in pointy red boots, despite having just injured her toe.
All three shone in starkly different, yet equally vibrant outfits. Winfrey wore a one-of-a-kind suit by Brunello Cucinelli, featuring a taupe floor-length skirt and a tie adorned with feather tassels, an aesthetic complemented by a beige shirt and blazer. Oyelowo, who is of Nigerian descent, wore a vibrant African print with vibrant flowers scattered against a cobalt background. King looked glamorous in a glittering knit midi dress by Rabanne featuring purple and red stripes.

While Winfrey’s shoes were hidden by her long skirt, King’s boots were clearly visible. They matched the red of her dress perfectly, with pointed toes and floppy shafts. A heel at the back supported King’s feet, and the soft suede texture of the shoes contrasted with the shine of her dress. Meanwhile, Oyelowo wore black velvet loafers by Dolce & Gabbana with a gold bee and crown on the upper.
The overseas trip comes just one week after King was hustling through an injured toe. She shared photos and videos of actor Brian Tyree Henry holding her at a CBS studio before an interview with CBS Mornings. “I love this guy! @briantyreehenry decided I needed help as I was hobbling around on my injured toe. He’s a great athlete and I had a tough time holding him,” she shared. “I’m not forcing this on my guests. Thanks for the ride Brian! Good luck with the Transformers event! PS you smell nice too.”

King returned to the United States last week to support “Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program” at a luncheon in New York City on September 17. Fittingly for the event, she wore Chanel clothing, looking elegant in a pleated white dress and black and white strappy heels.
