Paris Fashion Week 2024 is being dubbed the “Fashion Olympics.” To give the annual event its nickname, Christian Louboutin’s extravagant show continued overtime, ending with his friend David LaChapelle, the stiletto-heeled designer, taking a fully clothed dip in the pool.
On Friday night at Piscine Molitor in the City of Lights, the luxury brand explored uncharted waters. Instead of a traditional runway, there was a historic pool, and models entered using pump slides wearing Louboutin shoes.
The fashion house invited 15 French Olympians to perform a synchronized routine to show off its new Miss Z heels in a presentation titled “Paris Is Louboutin,” a play on “Paris Is Burning.” We asked for the cooperation of artistic swimmers.
Louboutin, the founder of his eponymous brand, told Women’s Wear Daily that he “likes working with shoes in places where you don’t expect to see them,” adding that underwater, “I like to work with shoes in places where you don’t expect to see them.” He said he was appalled by the chrome pumps, which were described as looking like ”. To close the show, Louboutin, Lee and LaChapelle jumped fully clothed into the pool, joining the ensembles already in the water. Of course, Louboutin took a spin in stilettos.

For the swimmers, Louboutin told WWD that the fashion extravaganza was “a piece of cake”. However, some of the players may have come out of the pool with some battle injuries.
“We swim really close to each other,” Olympian Claudia Janvier told The New York Times.
“I had a lot of bruises from being stabbed by a stiletto and had to hide them.”
Louboutin told WWD he was inspired by this summer’s Paris Olympics, adding: “I’ve always loved synchronized swimming.” He jokingly said that even his two daughters were swimming before they could walk.
“We all love Olympians who represent the best of humanity,” he said. “I want to create beautiful, escapist moments.”
