Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwihuru, has called on Nigerians to maintain faith in President Bola Tinubu’s administration as he is setting in motion mechanisms to take the country to its desired destination.
Mr Nwiful made the call on Sunday during a thanksgiving mass held at the Government House in Abakaliki as part of activities to commemorate the 2024 Independence Day.
He said President Tinubu’s removal of fuel subsidy was a well thought out policy and should be commended by all.
He argued that before the subsidy system ended, market traders held the country to ransom to the extent that they dictated what happened domestically, to the detriment of the majority.
“If the President had allowed these marketers to keep doing what they have been doing, this country would not have reached this level in infrastructure. The President’s decision is timely. That’s what I earned.”
The governor was optimistic that the hardship caused by subsidy removal would be temporary, saying, “In less than six months, fuel will be cheaper than it is now.”
Governor Nwihuru reiterated his determination to run an inclusive government in the state to avoid any temporary impact of subsidy cuts.
“My wish is for everyone to feel comfortable because we are equal before Almighty God,” he said.
The governor praised the founding fathers for their role in reaching the culmination of the country’s founding 28 years ago, and announced his government’s intention to thank them on October 1.
Governor Nwihuru further asked for the support and prayers of the people in his task of steering the affairs of the country.
“No one is perfect. As leaders, we always need your prayers. No one is perfect, so don’t let leaders gossip about your vision. It is better to pray that we can turn it into reality,” he said.
