After the recent confirmation that GTA 6’s release date will not be affected by the SAG-AFTRA voice actor strike, there’s more good news for Grand Theft Auto fans. In a recent earnings call, Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two revealed its GTA 6 launch plans. As fans worry that the game will be delayed until 2026, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told investors that the open-world crime game remains on track for a fall 2025 launch. “The Grand Theft Auto series has exceeded our expectations and momentum continues to build towards the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI in fall 2025,” Take-Two’s statement read. But unfortunately, it’s not all good news, especially for Xbox Grand Theft Auto fans.
With Call of Duty Black Ops 6 coming to Game Pass on launch day, Zelnick was asked about whether consumer habits will change and how that will affect Take-Two’s plans going forward.
Zelnick told GamesIndustry.Biz that launch-day releases only generate short-term benefits for subscription services.
“We think that if you offer cutting-edge titles at a premium price as a subscription service, consumers will be drawn to that subscription service, at least for a period of time,” Zelnick said.
Needless to say, Zelnick and Take-Two have no intention of changing their mind about the possibility of GTA 6 appearing on the subscription service at launch.
“No, that doesn’t influence our decision,” Zelnick continued, “because our decision is rational.”
it hurts!
Grand Theft Auto 6 is set in the state of Leonidas, which is modeled after the state of Florida.
Rockstar explains: “Grand Theft Auto VI is the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series ever, taking you to the neon-lit streets of Vice City and beyond in the state of Leonida.”
The trailer gives fans a glimpse at some of the locations on the map from an aerial view, including a Florida Keys-based location and beaches.
The next GTA 6 trailer, rumored to be released on October 4th, is expected to provide a closer look at locations and gameplay.
