Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Steel and Home Affairs HD Kumaraswamy began suffering from nosebleed while addressing the media after a coordination committee meeting of BJP and JD-S leaders here on Sunday.
The Union Minister was taken to Apollo Hospital in Jayanagar district here. His son, actor-turned-politician Nikhil Coomaraswamy and other leaders of the Janata Dal Secular Party (JD-S) rushed him to the hospital.
HD Kumaraswamy has been taking part in a series of programmes since the morning.
He visited a temple in Nanjangud town and later reached Mysore to hold a meeting and address the media.
In the afternoon, he arrived in Bengaluru to attend a meeting of BJP and JD-S leaders.
HD Kumaraswamy was addressing the media along with former Karmataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Karnataka BJP leader BY Vijayendra and Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka when he suddenly suffered a nosebleed.

Despite this, HD Kumaraswamy was unfazed and asked Yediyurappa to speak to the media after which he stepped back, holding a hand towel over his nose.
He was then rushed to hospital.
The minister is currently undergoing tests, according to hospital authorities. “A clearer picture will emerge once the test results are out,” a hospital official said.

It is suspected that taking blood-thinning drugs or medicines may have caused the bleeding, but no official statement has yet been made.
HD Coomaraswamy had previously undergone heart surgery.
