Kristin Cavallari is opening up about her breakup with Mark Estes, saying she will one day be grateful that he broke up with her.
The 37-year-old “Hills” alum ended her relationship with the 24-year-old influencer seven months after they first started dating.
On Tuesday’s episode of the “Let’s Be Honest” podcast, Cavallari explained why she broke up with the Montana Boys TikTok star.
“Mark and I broke up,” she said. “The reason it’s so hard to break up with Mark is not because I lost love or because anything bad happened, just because I know it’s not right in the long run.”
Cavallari explained that their romance ended amicably, adding: “No one cheated or was mean to anyone.”
“He was the best boyfriend I’ve ever had,” she said of the social media star. “I know that in the long run he needs to experience life. He’s still young so… he’s starting to feel a little bit older with his life experiences.”
“I look back at when I was 24 and think about how much has happened in my life up to that point. Those are important years, those are formative years, when you find yourself. , he needs to be able to do that,” she added.
Cavallari has sons Camden, 12, Jackson, 10, and Saylor, 8, with her ex-husband, former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler.
The mother of three discovered Estes on social media in September 2023, and the two began dating in February 2024.
Cavallari admitted that their 13-year age difference was always “well known.”
Still, she added that their ill-fated relationship was “very healthy, very mature.”
“He’s going to make someone very happy one day…and he’s going to have a beautiful family of his own,” she continued. “I actually think that one day he’ll look back and realize that, and one day he’ll look back and thank me.”
As for Estes, she hinted that it would take time to get the same “hindsight.”
“I don’t regret being out in public with him. I don’t regret introducing him to my kids,” she continued. “I don’t regret anything.”

Cavallari, who is returning to single life, admitted that she is “not interested in getting back into the dating world right now.”
