Their enthusiasm to score some discounted merchandise (Heaven products were up to 70% off retail price) was impressive, but their stylish looks were equally admirable. The event was also a celebration of street style: baggy jeans, mini skirts paired with biker boots, Heaven Star T-shirts and Mowalola hats were in abundance. Once the doors opened, the real frenzy began.
Shoppers made a beeline for the bags and jewelry on the main floor, zeroing in on specific items like sharp-eyed assassins. It turned out that many of the shoppers had compiled a dream list before even entering the store. “We came here with a clear purpose,” said Aguilar, who had her eye on a jersey from the Heaven Deftones capsule collection. “We’re looking for a Heaven bag and some pieces made in collaboration with Sandy Liang,” Flores said.

The store was not your average chaotic sample sale with clothes strewn about. The goods were mostly neat, spread across two floors in the same way Barneys (RIP) displays its luxury goods, and displayed alongside a giant purple squirrel sculpture by Robert Crumb. There was a wide variety of clothing, including mesh, floral, and camo Heaven tops, chic Sandy Liang coats and dresses with Peter Pan-esque collars, cool Vaquera flannel shirts with built-in lace camisoles, and Mowalora hats with a giant M fashioned into a McDonald’s-esque logo. As Hall’s tunes blared from the store’s speakers, shoppers frantically searched the racks with eyes that were both panicked and excited.
