We can’t help but wonder sometimes what Henry Cavill thinks about the current trajectory of his career. The former Superman was officially ousted from the role when James Gunn and Peter Safran took over Warner Bros. Superhero movie franchises started a few years ago, but he’s been living in a world where the clock is ticking ever since 2017’s Justice League made more than a ton of money. Since then, he has continued to work steadily. And between “Argyle” and “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly War,” he tries to make his old James Bond dreams come true in 2024, despite having mostly failed in recent years. Although most of his efforts have failed, the audience still seems to be positive towards him. (Case in point: When he made a cameo appearance in this summer’s Deadpool & Wolverine, the theater we were in was completely lit up.) Still, when he signs on to star in Amazon’s film, the wall There has to be some character in the Voltron movie, right?
This is according to THR, which reports that Cavill joins the cast of the Lawson Marshall Thurber-directed film, along with young stage actor Daniel Quinn-Toy, and is “a man for whom this means more career advancement than anything else.” It was reported that he was playing. Plot details for the film are being kept under wraps at this time, but if we had to guess, Cavill will play a character who is expected to make an expression of agony while pretending to control a large CGI lion’s paw, or I’m going to play a villain who is very angry about that. This CGI lion is here to ruin all his evil plans. (It’s possible he could play someone agnostic to Voltron in an Amazon MGM movie, though that seems like a waste of the excellent Henry Cavill.)
But no matter what ridiculous costumes they dress up for this one, Kabir is sure to stay busy. His latest Guy Ritchie film, In the Gray, is currently in post-production, and he has an adaptation of Highlander that we’d actually like to see. — primarily directed by John Wick mastermind Chad Stahelski — is based on a book. Still, it’s a Voltron movie! I don’t feel well.
